The object of pilgrimage is not rest and recreation-to get away from it all. To set out on pilgrimage is to throw down a challenge to everyday life. Nothing matters now but this adventure.

Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, a 40 day fast in the Christian faith that prepares believers to enter into Holy Week, throws down a challenge to ordinary life. Whether bidden or not, this sacred season works its way into my thinking and being, and prods me to hold up what I say I believe against how I live out those values.
As you begin Lent, we pray you will drop down into an awareness of the Spirit's work in your life.
We also invite you to reflect on how these early days of 2018 have been for you. Have the dreams you felt called to faded into the fog of daily life? If you settle into solitiude for just a few moments, does your soul stir with longing for something juicer than the ordinary? Do you sense an invitation to journey toward a life richer and fuller, but don't know what path to take?
If this is so, and you are ready to "throw down a challenge to everyday life," then please consider joining us in September 2018 for our pilgrimage, "Beyond These Shores," to Lindisfarne and Iona.
